Poetry readings plus Q&A with Tomasz Madajczak (photography) & Moze Jacobs (writer).

This project engages with the silent echoes of history in Skibbereen, where the Heritage Centre and Famine Trails are major tourist attractions, and various other buildings are associated with “an Gorta Mór” (the Great Hunger or Famine), the worst humanitarian disaster of nineteenth century Europe. This is of great interest to many visitors; especially those with ancestral ties to the town.

The psychological aftermath (residue) and side effects of this huge calamity reverberate in the photographs, poems, quotes, and other texts in this exhibition and will be investigated further in two writing/photography workshops during the festival. The resulting material and information will feed into the exhibition itself and feature in additional explorations during Heritage Week (16-24 August) and beyond.

Join us on Saturday, July 26th to explore this exhibition through poetry readings and Q&A with Tomasz Madajczak (photography) & Moze Jacobs (writer).

Further workshops:
