Join gifted storyteller Conor Ó Buachalla of Gormú on one of the most beautiful walks in West Cork for an experience you will never forget. Together, we will explore one of the most interesting sections of the Wild Atlantic Way using toponyms - the language of its placenames.

It is said the mighty inscribe their toponymy on the landscape. Gaels, Vikings, Normans, Spaniards, Pirates, English and the Irish all controlled this section of coastline at one time or another and they all left their mark on the placenames of this beautiful area.

Our walk around Castlehaven will take in secluded beaches, holy wells, fairy forts, hidden trails and rural boreens. All told we will walk about five kilometres. While undulating, this trail is easy and fun for beginners.

Enjoy the stunning coastal scenery while experiencing the health benefits of being outdoors and walking in nature. Conor tells his many stories associated with these local placenames in a fun and engaging manner and you are guaranteed to leave with a smile on your face and a new found interest in our local placenames.

Location: Castlehaven Cross, Castletownshend, Cork, P81 KC87
