back to events

Facilitated by Mary Murphy

Bring your imagination to life with a fun storytelling session at the library!

Perfect for children aged 4–9, these engaging stories are sure to entertain, inspire and spark a love of reading.

A retired primary school teacher, Mary Murphy  has a lifelong passion for storytelling and its value in children's learning and development. Over the years, she has shared original stories with children in summer camps, after-school clubs run by a Family Centre in Cork, and at storytelling sessions in Dunmanway Library.

Drawing on years of experience working with children, Mary creates engaging, interactive storytelling sessions that capture the imagination. Stories often weave in fascinating facts about the natural world and include words and phrases in Irish, encouraging curiosity and language learning. Children are invited to become part of the story wherever possible, making each session lively, memorable and fun.

The sessions can be tailored to suit different age groups and audiences, from young children aged four and up to older primary school pupils. For older children, storytelling may also include elements of drama and role play, encouraging participation and creativity.
