The Drummer and The Keeper

Written and directed by Nick Kelly

1hr 32mins . Ireland . 2017

Drummer Gabriel (Dermot Murphy), recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder, is forced to curb his erratic behaviour when his therapist changes his medication and insists he join a special football team.

When he meets goalkeeper Christopher (Jacob McCarthy), a 17-year-old with Asperger’s Syndrome, a fraught relationship gradually develops into a firm friendship as each learns to respect the other’s foibles.

HUM - directed by Nathan Fagan - 19 mins

Diagnosed at 19 years old with schizoaffective disorder - which has been described as the ‘unhappy marriage of bipolar and schizophrenia’ - Kevin Nolan began writing music to regain some of the freedom he’d lost due to his illness.

Hum is an intimate and music-fuelled tour of Kevin’s world.

Kevin Nolan is a member of the West Cork based, International Creative Colony, Baby Forest. He currently has an exhibition of his music, poetry and sound pieces online at Baby Forest: www.babyforest.co/hum

An Open Door - Directed by Aoise Tutty . Produced by Tamlyn Griggs. 15 mins.

Join us for this special premiere of An Open Door, a film made by local director Aoise Tutty.

Aoise is also a member of the Baby Forest Creative Colony (babyforest.co/aoisetutty).

This film centres on Skibbereen's pioneering service at 49 North Street which is making waves in the Mental health world with their co-productive and creative approaches. Aoise and the founder of 'The Happiness Ensemble', Peter Fitzpatrick, who is featured in the film will join us for a panel discussion which will explore the inextricable link between the Arts and Mental Health.
