Michael Minihane (1922 – 2019) was a Skibbereen Institution.
A native of Cunnamore, a townland by the sea just outside Skibbereen, he was a natural at photography and joined the Cork Examiner newspaper in 1954. For the next 30 years he documented life in west Cork and beyond. He was renowned for turning up at every event and occasion, no matter how big or small, and had a great eye for a photo, especially in a rural setting.
He retired in 1984 and more recently he could be heard playing his accordion in the doorway of his home on Bridge Street. We are delighted to exhibit a selection of his photos from the 1950's to the 1980's as we remember this remarkable man.
