We are honoured to host a new exhibition, 'The Signs of Declan Newman'
Signwriter Declan Newman was a Skibbereen institution.
From 1989 until his tragic passing earlier this year he painted hundreds of signs, on walls, boats, vans and on almost all of the shopfronts in the area. The sight of him up a ladder, painting away in deep concentration, but also having the craic with anyone who passed by, was an almost daily occurrence for over 30 years. He took immense pride in the art and craft of his signwriting and left a legacy here that will never be forgotten. He literally painted the town. Join us as we take a trip down memory lane and look back at Deccie's work over 5 decades.
Tuesday 30th August - Saturday 3rd September . 11am-5pm
