This talk will look at the resurgence of interest in ‘silence’ in the recent evolution of contemplative cinema and will focus on how silence and sound have acquired a more profound significance for contemporary artists and filmmakers, many of whom choose to reinvestigate the aesthetic foundations of cinema in their work. Katherine Waugh is a freelance writer on contemporary art and film.
