‘Field Notes’ is an installation in disused building by Tess Leak of drawings inspired by the environment around her. Using humble materials such as found cardboard, recycled wallpaper, office index cards and a corner of a room, she is inspired by Rauschenberg’s idea of “the generosity of fi nding surprises”.
Tess graduated from the B.A. in Visual Art on Sherkin where her fi nal show was installed in the upstairs of an empty farmhouse on the island. Whale watching, lighthousekeeping and the distance between two pieces of land all provided metaphors. This new work is a response to local fl oods, distant volcanoes and other smaller happenings.
